Fiddler On the Roof!

For Christmas, I suprised Scott with season tickets to broadway.  We got tickets for Grease, Fiddle on the Roof, and Phantom of the Opera.  So, last night Scott and I had an awesome date!  We went to see Fiddler on the Roof.  It was so awesome.  Topol, the man who plays Teyve in the movie, was Tevye in the play.  He is incredible, he's got to be like 70-75 years old and is still just hopping and dancing around stage. His voice is incredible too.  When the play opened, he came out on stage and everyone starting clapping and cheering, before he had even said anything.  Needless to say, he stole the show..... actually he pretty much IS the show.  We were reading the Play Bill before it started and apparently he has done this show, in this role, over 2500 times.  Can you believe that?  I can't.  It is like second nature to him by now.

Here's us in front of the theater, FREEZING our little buns off.  It was REALLY cold, but it was still worth going to the play!!
And here we are in the toasty warm theater, don't we look much calmer?  I wish we could have gotten more of the background on stage, but it didn't really work out.  It was a great night and we loved the show..... now we are looking forward to Phantom of the Opera in May!!!

Monkey on the Bed

Will loves to jump on his bed.  Every chance he gets, he jumps and jumps and jumps.  He loves to show people his room and his bed and always wants to show them how he can jump around on his bed.

I promise we do get dressed, it just seems that we have most of our relaxed fun in the morning before we are out of PJ's and the day has really begun.  That seems to be when I always have the camera handy! :)

To every good story there is a beginning......
A middle....
And an end....

Will has had a cold, so we are frequently blowing his nose.  I told him to go get a little piece of tissue, and this is what we found..... he tried.  I just had to laugh, I think every 3 year old in the world has done this, right?

The Lazy Days of ...... Winter

One of Will's favorite things to do is play in the water.  So, on many mornings, this is where Will can be found.  Filling up the bathroom sink with bubbles, water, and every sea creature imaginable!  He plays and plays for as long as I will let him.  Luckily, we don't have to pay utilities or a water bill! :)

My favorite thing is when he takes his shark and starts doing the Jaws shark thing... da dum da dum, etc.  Then he "attacks" and the rest of his fish go flying every where!

Can you believe how my little guy is growing up?  He's so fun, and getting so big and independent.  He very seriously told me yesterday "mom, did you know that sharks are predators?"  I love this little boy, he is such a fun part of my life!!

Is this going to be Will someday......?

My son LOVES animals.  Mammals, mostly.  It began with dinosaurs, that obsession has slowly eased up, it's still there, but not as much.  Now he has moved on to sea creatures, sharks, whales, snakes, frogs, that sort of thing.  You may think it's not that bad, how could a three year old be into those kinds of things.... well let me tell you.

At least daily we have a conversation about what sharks do, eat, what certain kinds of sharks look like, what type of teeth they have and why, etc.  He tells me that he would "love to be a diver so he could swim with whales and sharks!" That it would be so fun to do that.  Not only do we talk about it, but he also asks me if he can watch Planet Earth (the shallow seas) probably about three-four times a day.  While we watch Planet Earth, he repeats everything word for word, and forgets NOTHING.  He tells me facts that I didn't even hear and I have to believe him because he's right, pretty much always.

We are going to Sea World in March and we are SO excited to take Will.  It is coming right at the perfect time, while he is really into whales, fish, and sea creatures.  We've been watching videos on-line of Sea World and Shamu and Will is SO excited, I can't wait to see his face when we are actually there watching it live.  So..... in my many daily conversations I often wonder if this is going to be my little boy someday.... in the cage watching sharks, or getting flipped out of the water by Shamu.  Will, if this what your little heart desires and if you decide this is really something you love, go for it! I can't wait to come and watch you in action! :)
PS - I secretly thinks he gets this from me, I used to want to be a marine biologist.  That is what I always thought I would do, after being a wife and mother of course! Shhhhh, don't tell, I'm just as fascinated as Will!

Our week .....

We had a great week.  Busy, but very fun.  In an effort to simplify life and holidays, our family celebrated Valentines day simply and perfectly.

Will and I made and decorated sugar cookies.  This is definitely not the most flattering picture of Will, but it was the only one I got of him actually looking at the camera instead of concentrating on eating as much candy as possible.

Didn't Will do a good job on his cookie?  I thought so, he had a lot of fun with it.  Especially the eating part.
So, long story..... one night we were out a little late and Will had not taken a nap, so he had fallen asleep in the car around 8pm.  We were driving home and decided to go get shakes, so we headed up the freeway instead of going home.  While we were ordering, Will woke up and sleepily asked for chicken nuggets.  It was about 10pm, so what the hay.  After he woke up, he was wide awake and I could tell there was no getting him back to sleep.  When we got home, we were all a little hyper, eating our shakes and chicken nuggets.  We decided to blow up our air matress and have a slumber party in the living room.  We watched Night at the Museum and laughed hysterically at Will who was out of control.  Around midnight, Will was still wide awake and Scott and I were exhausted.  Will finally asked if he could go sleep in his bed, so we said sure and then we all ended up going back to our own beds.  We had good intentions and it was a blast!! Will and I got to sleep in the next day, so it was well worth it.  It made some wonderful memories.

Scott and I took advantage of being in Rochester and left Will with his cousins so we could go on a date for Valentines Day.  We ate at a fun little pizza place and then went to see New In Town.  It was fun, the movie is hilarious, hits a little too close to home.  If you haven't seen it, you should, it is pretty funny!!
We have not taken a family picture since well before Christmas, so we thought we'd try to take one before church on Sunday.  Will was not happy about it, so we did the best we could and this is what we got.  We all had matching clothes on and I thought we looked pretty cute together, I wish we could have gotten a smile!! We even tried bribery, still didn't work.  Maybe next week!?

We had a great week.  I love my little family.  Will is growing up so fast, it amazes me everyday!  I miss my little babe, but I'm so lucky to have these boys in my life.  Scott is such a wonderful husband, and does so much for us.  Life is good, we are SO blessed!

I'm curious......

.... what do you keep in your purse?

It seems like after having a child (ok, that is just my excuse) I have all sorts of paraphernalia in my purse at all times. "Just in case" is my motto, but then I wonder why my shoulder hurts everytime I get home from going somewhere with my purse.  Maybe it is because I carry things that I just HAVE to have?!  Like:

-wallet
-planner
-cell phone
-bag of cheerios, or some other multi-grain snack
-bag of craisins
-2 kinds of gum.... yes, I HAVE to have this, one fruity the other minty
-some sort of bribery candy
-2 kinds of chapstick.... I MAY need both of them on the same shopping trip!
-tissues
-wipes
-a plastic bag.... you never know
-my locker for the gym (if I don't keep it in here, I'll forget it)
-a couple dozen maps around the twin cities, they won't fit in our glove box, there are too many other things in there
-certain feminine items
-gloves, for me and Will
-a few bobbi pins
-2 bottles of hand-sanitizer
AND.... - a pen

YES, that is all in my purse, at all times.  The sad part is that I just thinking today how I've done so good at keeping it cleaned out.  Can you believe this?  What do YOU keep in your purse?
