spring break fun and then.....

This strawberry was way too weirrd not to blog about.  What is it with the HUGE strawberries these days. I think have all been genetically altered or something. We bought a box at costco and several of them had weird growths like this one.... odd!

We had a great Spring Break. It was so relaxing and the weather was nice for most of the week. We stayed in our jammies, played outside a lot, and enjoyed hanging out together. At the end of the week, we met my family in Park City for the weekend. It was a blast. It was two of my brothers and their families and my sister and her family. Eli and Ali (above) are good little buddies, most of the time. You can't tell, but Ali is a year older than Eli!
My boys love their older cousins. They always have a lot of fun with Denver and love to hang out with him. Eli sat there by Denver for a whole movie. He asks me all time where Denver is. He really loves him and looks up to him a lot!

We took a walk with the boys down Main Street. Park City is so fun. It is so close, yet it feels like a little retreat and feels like you went somewhere far away. There's no other place like it in UT. It's a fun little vacation spot. The weather was beautiful, weird, but really pretty. It snowed a lot and rained alot with sunshine in between, it really was pretty most of the time.

I just got on instagram. It's basically like Facebook, but it's all pictures. We've been having fun with it and playing around with all the filters. I love that my pictures from instagram also upload to my computer. After we got home from Park City, I started getting sick. I ended up having strep throat. NOT FUN! So while I was laying on the couch, the boys were playing the wii. They also got treated to Burger King since I was not going to lift a finger to fix them lunch after getting home from the dr. It was a long and very tiring week of being sick. I'm thankful to be feeling much better!
While I was home sick, Scott took the boys to the symphony. It was the music of John Williams, so they played a lot of Will's favorite songs. They played Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Super Man, and several others. The boys LOVED it. Eli even sat through it and has been talking about it all week. Before the symphony started, they had lots of characters in the lobby, like Chewbacca, a strom trooper, Indiana Jones himself and several others. It was the highlight of the week for the boys.

We've loved having the family season pass to the symphony. It's something we will do again in the future for sure! I love exposing the boys to events like this that have something they love (star wars and the like) mixed with great music and I love that is something "non" -electronic and so much more worth their time than taking them out to eat or whatever..... Don't know if that makes sense, but we really love going to the symphony.

After going to the symphony, Eli has told me several times that he listened to star wars at the temple. :) I think he thought Abravanel Hall was really pretty and I'm glad he's making some association with the temple!

our two-wheeler

Will is doing great learning to ride his bike. We got him a bike at Al's over the weekend. This video was his very first day of riding here at home. He loves it and thinks his bike is so awesome! I'm so proud of Will, he is growing up and doing such a great job at learning new things and being courageous!

easter

We've had such a great Springtime around here! The weather has be beautiful and we've been spending lots of time outside. The boys have been enjoying the nice weather too. I got all these pictures off my phone, so some of them are a little blurry! Above, Eli loves cheetos, and always has a great smile for the camera. He is such a ham!
The boys were so excited to find their eggs and Easter basket! We went to Logan for the weekend and Grandma Martha always make them feel special. We had a great time. We hunted for eggs, several times! We also rolled our eggs down Old Main Hill (the boys LOVED IT!! - so did the adults!), we played and played with cousins, saw both families, ate lots of yummy food, and had some intriguing and hilarious conversations. Family is the best!
Eli's eggs were little basketballs and he thought that was great, especially when he figured out all the candy inside. Then he would find an egg, eat the candy, then find another.

Eli was so interested in his treats that he didn't want to pause for a picture!
My cute little boys. Such cute smiles! They were super excited with the little treasures in their "basket." Eli has loved blowing bubbles, that was by far his favorite part of Easter!
The Mortensen cousins before their Egg hunt in Grandma and Grandpa's yard. It was a beautiful day, sunny, but very chilly! Cute little Lila is behind Will and we couldn't see her!
 The HUNT is on!
Our little bubble blower. Blowing bubbles all day!
Easter is a beautiful holiday, for many reasons. It is always a great time of year, and I love having a holiday dedicated to remember our Savior's sacrifice for each one of us!

spring has sprung

I love the change of the seasons! Even though it would be so awesome to live somewhere really mild, I know I would really miss the drastic changes in season every few months. It always motivates me to renew my energy, my goals, and my life as a mother and wife! This past weekend was great. It was General Conference. I LOVE conference weekend. We were at home this time and it was great. We watched what we could, but DVR'd it all so we can watch it again.... sometimes we miss things because of the boys. :) We had some good friends over for dinner and said it was our "Easter" dinner. It was a  lot of fun.
We dyed eggs, which is always really exciting. I had to watch Eli like a hawk since his preferred method of dying eggs involves throwing, smashing, splashing, and grabbing at everything! Will thought the magic crayon was really cool and colored and wrote his name on a lot of our eggs.
Scott is two weeks post surgery now and doing great! This is the only picture I got of him on his big day. His wrist is doing well and he is happy with how the surgery went. It was a long day for both of us.... the dr was an hour and a half behind schedule. But in the end, we feel blessed!
The weekend after Scott had surgery, he had a conference to attend overnight in SLC. So we asked the in-laws to come babysit our boys and we just played for two days. We had a lot of fun. I enjoyed a lot of time to myself while Scott was in meetings and we had a lot of fun together when meetings were out. We went to dinner, saw Hunger Games (LOVED IT!), slept great in our beautiful hotel, went running, leisurely got ready, walked around City Creek (was really cool! and crowded), had lunch, more shopping, and then home. We had a great time and it was such a nice relaxing break. Bonus, our kids LOVE having Grandma and Grandpa here. They both cried when we got home because they didn't want them to leave. So it's great to get away and know that your kids are having as much fun as we are!
A few mornings ago, Eli decided he wanted to be potty trained?! I am NOT ready for this. He does amazing, goes on the potty all the time. Only problem.... he has no idea that he's supposed to TELL me he has to go, nor does he care one bit if he's wet in his undies, or diaper. So, I'm a little iffy about the whole thing. I'm thinking he's ready, I'm just not sure I'm ready for the endless trips to the bathroom, potty breaks at the grocery store, swimming pool, driving all Summer, and running inside from the park all Summer. Not to mention carrying around extra clothes all summer for when he does have an accident. Ahhhh, what am I going to do? I don't want to NOT encourage him, but him at the same time, I just don't know if we are ready! On the other hand, his little tushy (let's be honest, it's not that little) is the cutest thing ever! He's wearing Will's undies in the above picture because we hadn't gone to the store to pick his own out. He more than filled out Will's normally baggy undies. It is pretty irresistible.
